Tiziana Rocca presented at the Cannes Film Festival the seventh edition of Filming Italy Sardegna, which will be held at Forte Village in Cagliari from June 20 to 23, 2024. “The Festival has become a reference point for the promotion of audiovisual products”, confirmed Rocca, “and for many young students who have approached the world of the seventh art full of hope and curiosity.
The president of the short film jury will be Paz Vega, internationally recognized Spanish star, star of films such as Pedro Almodovar’s “Hable con ella” and “Rambo: Last Blood” with Sylvester Stallone. The patroness of this new edition of the Festival will instead be Ambra Angiolini, one of the most talented actresses of her generation. However, there will be so many guests at the Festival who will dialogue in master classes with young students from Cinema Academy, schools and universities, such as the incredible Bella Thorne who is here with us today”. Bella Thorne will also present her short directorial film “Paint Her Red” at the festival, which will be shown to young people in the Academy Cinema.
Tiziana Rocca and the direction of the festival. Tiziana Rocca is one of the few film festival directors in the world. She founded Filming Italy Los Angeles and Filming Italy Speciale Venezia. “The road is definitely uphill, because even though I’ve been doing this for so many years, for more than 10 years in Italy – 6 years of the Taormina Film Festival, 7 years of Filming Italy Sardegna, and 10 years of Filming Italy Los Angeles – I’ve always tried to support women in the film world within my festivals.” For Rocca, there is a “need for many more female directors who tell beautiful and interesting stories and put the figure of the woman in the limelight. Within my festival I have also created an award called the Filming Italy Woman Power Award – I think the path is now set, so hopefully many more women will choose women. A woman has to work twice as hard to prove herself, this is a rule in all professions, so you need a lot of determination, a lot of tenacity, a lot of willpower.
