How to Decorate Effectively with Area Rugs

Area rugs add color and texture to any space when used properly
Finding Loloi area rugs that you’ll treasure for years isn’t a problem. You have a wide range of sizes, styles, colors, and patterns to choose from.
If you wait for a Loloi rug sale, you may end up with an area rug in every room of your home.
There’s nothing wrong with filling your home with area rugs. The rugs are versatile, especially when it comes to decorating.
However, some decorating methods are more effective than others, especially when it comes to using area rugs in your home decor.

Area Rugs and Furniture

Most decorators agree a Loloi area rug should extend underneath the key pieces of furniture in a room.
In living rooms, the furniture should be on top of the rug.
If this isn’t possible, you are not breaking any decorating rules if only the front legs of major upholstered pieces are on the rug and the back legs on the floor. However, you should try to keep all the legs of smaller pieces on the rug.
Placing area rugs in bedrooms often requires moving some furniture but the effect is worth it when you see the final result.
Push the area rug against the wall at the head of the bed, leaving plenty of room for nightstands and clearance at the end of the bed. This effectively anchors the bed and surrounding furniture.
Using area rugs in dining rooms is a great idea. The rug should be large enough for the chairs as well as the table. A good rule to follow is that the chairs should be on the rug, even when they’re pulled out from the table.

Pay Attention to Rug Size in Bedrooms

If an area rug is too small, it can easily be overwhelmed by the bed. The opposite is true when the area rug is too large for the space.
A good rule to follow is,
⦁ Twin/Double Bed: The rug should be large enough to extend beyond the sides of the bed by at least 12 inches.
⦁ Queen/King: Choose a rug that extends a least 18 inches beyond the sides of the bed.
Try to leave the same amount of floor space on all sides of the rug. This applies to bedrooms, and any other space in your house.

Experiment with Colors and Patterns

While you want the area rug to go with the room’s décor, everything doesn’t need to match perfectly.
Go ahead and have some fun with bold colors or vivid patterns.
The right area rug can liven up a drab space.
However, if you already have bold-colored furniture, you may want to stick with a more subdued area rug. Save the bright colors for a hallway or even a bedroom.

An Area Rug is An Investment

Even with a Loloi area rug sale, you are still making an investment.
Take your time making a decision. Remember, your area rug may become the focal point in the space.
